Childrens Rhyme

Find children's rhyme, music and song at Entertain the Kids.

Did you know that rhyme can help with your children's language skills? Music, singing and chanting all play a part in developing a child's communication skills - it has the ability to communicate feelings and moods. Singing and rhyme in early childhood helps development because it's easier to remember words when they rhyme and many children's songs list many important words for example "Head, shoulders, knees and toes..."

Members of Entertain the Kids enjoy access to songs and rhymes for all ages such as nursery rhymes, action songs, counting songs, traditional songs, rounds and skipping songs. Many songs are new that you can learn with your children but many are traditional rhymes that you will remember from when you were a child. For example, do you remember Five Currant Buns?

Five Currant Buns

  • Five currant buns in a baker's shop
  • Big and round with a cherry on the top
  • A little girl came in with a penny one day
  • She bought a currant bun and took it right away

  • Four currant buns in a baker's shop
  • Big and round with a cherry on the top
  • A little boy came in...

This counting and action rhyme is perfect for helping children to not only improve communication skills but also provides an early introduction to counting. Most of us will remember playing it in the round with each child taking turns to buy a currant bun.
